Silent Sentinel

Living in the northeast, brings special moments….

At the present time we are cloaked in a blanket of snow.  It is beautiful and it is challenging… but there are occasional peeks of sun that bring hope for the Spring that is beckoning us forward.

These days, my attention has been consistently drawn to the trees… standing tall… and silent … waiting… How strong they are… how resilient… how majestic.

I have recently been reminded over and over… to be like the tree in winter… “all of life needs to rest and take time for incubation”… “learn to honor the peace of rest”…

We are so busy…. doing, doing, doing… we feel that ‘doing’ is a sign of success and worth…

There is another part of the journey… to go within and just ‘be’….  to surrender to the silence and nourishment offered… to be like the tree and answer the call… to wait, as if silent, for the new day… the sun… the warmth… the bringing forth of new life… the new leaf… the lush green canopy… the crowning glory of spring time.

Be like the tree in winter…

Allow the incubation time… that brings the beautiful buds of spring… which flow into the colorful blooms of summer… and beyond…
