Meet Dr. Marian S. Taylor

I have dedicated my life to helping children develop a stronger inner compass as they navigate the complexities of life. An internal sense of awareness empowers them to make thoughtful decisions, cultivate empathy, and develop a feeling of resilience.

Author Marian S. Taylor EdD is a retired university professor. She holds several degrees and certifications, including an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education, a Masters Degree in Reading, and a Doctorate in Education with a focus in Reading.

She holds certifications as a Reading Specialist, a Reading Supervisor, and an Elementary Principal. Her career began at the elementary level where she taught first grade and served as a reading specialist. As a university professor, she taught undergraduate and graduate courses and served as a Principal and Director of the Miller Research Learning Center and University Laboratory School. She was Director of the Masters in Reading Program for many years and trained hundreds of Reading Specialists in this role. She also served as Chairperson of the Department of Professional Studies until her retirement. This is an example of a link.

She has enjoyed presenting at conferences in national and international settings. Her topics of interest have been Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences, topics in reading education, technology applications, and Gregorc’s Mind Style Delineator.

Over the years, she has served the church in many capacities. She was the mission team leader for many groups of youth and adults over a twenty-year period.  She served as President of the Board of Directors for the All God’s Children Ministries, which assists disabled individuals in a variety of capacities to include respite care, ramp building, and international wheelchair fitting. She presently serves as President of the Board of Directors for Goodell Gardens & Homestead which is a local community garden. She lives in Pennsylvania with her husband. She is the mother of three grown children and is very proud of her grandchildren.

Began her career as an artist working for Walt Disney Animation Studios. From there, she leapt into the world of visual effects and graphic arts on more than 30 feature films like Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, The Amazing Spiderman, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, etc.
She was appointed as a lead artist for several major motion pictures, including Fantastic Four, where she advised and guided a team of artists on creating the special effects of Jessica Alba’s character (Sue Storm).

Born in Jakarta, Indonesia, and raised in three different countries, Amy is fluent in six languages and an avid polo player. She was also on the design team that created the top secret commercial for Apple’s Watch before the product was launched. Her portfolio can be viewed at www.amyduarte.com.
